Chemex Bio-Plus / Bacterial Suspension & Adjunct
Chemex Bio-Plus is a commercially concentrated, liquid bacterial suspension and adjunct. This safe, highly concentrated liquid suspension is designed to provide the nutrients that naturally occurring bacteria require to continue their bioremediation within a closed system such as a grease interceptor, lift station, or forced main. Chemex Bio-Plus will impede septicity* and promote bio-oxidation of Hydrogen Sulfide and other organic odors. Chemex Bio-Plus provides an exceptionally attractive environment for bacteria to remain in a high metabolic state, readily mitigating grease, fats, and oils found in grease traps, lift stations, and forced mains.
In comparison, Chemex Bio-Plus has been proven to be more cost-effective than other liquid treatments such as sodium hypochlorite, Sodium Permanganate, or Chlorine (Gas). Additional advantages include 1) Delivery can be through simple feed systems. 2) Effective for long-duration control. 3) In-line BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) reduction is possible. 4) Control of H2S levels is practical. 5) Nonhazardous material.
Chemex Bio-Plus may be used in Collection Systems, Wet Wells, Municipal Systems, Industrial Systems, Lift Stations, Floor Sinks, Sewer Lines, Food Processing Systems, Wastewater lines, and Grease Traps.

Chemex Bio-Plus Chemical Reactions
The approximate chemical reaction that occurs with the addition of Chemex Bio-Plus for the prevention of Hydrogen Sulfide production is: 8/5 NO3- -> 4/5 N2 + [2 O2]. Once oxygen is liberated, the naturally present bacteria and the additional bacteria dosed into the system can continue to aerobically degrade organic matter. This prevents the formation of Hydrogen Sulfide gases because these bacteria expel Carbon Dioxide (Odorless) and water. For the removal of Hydrogen Sulfide in a closed system (Bio-Mediation Oxidation), the chemical reaction is 5 H2 + 8 NO3- ——> 5 SO4 2- + 4 N2 + 4 H2O + 2 H. Through this chemical reaction, all available sulfides are consumed and complexed and will not be available for Hydrogen Sulfide production.

Chemex Bio-Plus Application
Chemex Bio-Plus provides 24/7 lift station/grease trap treatment with a safe, easy-to-use system. Simply allow material to drip-feed using a dosage pump, feeding the required gallons per day into the system. Actual dosages will be determined after an initial trial period.
DOSAGE
Chemex Bio-Plus theoretical dosage rates for prevention and Bioremediation of Hydrogen Sulfide are approximately 3 pounds of Chemex Bio-Plus per pound of Hydrogen Sulfide present. In practice, a range of 3 to 8 pounds of Chemex Bio-Plus per pound of Hydrogen Sulfide is more practical for prevention, whereas a range of 3 to 5 pounds of Chemex Bio-Plus per pound of Hydrogen Sulfide is more practical for completing the Bio-remediation reaction.
* Septicity:
Septicity refers to wastewater or organic sludge becoming anaerobic (depleted of oxygen) as it sits stagnant in collection systems. Without oxygen, microbes break down organic matter through fermentation, producing foul odors (like rotten eggs), volatile organic acids, and toxic, corrosive hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) gas
